What kinds of events do you bring porta potties to?
We set up restrooms for birthdays, graduations, church events, family reunions, block parties, funerals and park gatherings. Most of these events have 25 to 200 guests. A party of 50 guests for 4 hours needs 1 standard unit under our sizing method. Bigger crowds, longer hours and alcohol each add units.
Most home and community events need one to five units. The table below shows what we usually send for common Upstate gatherings. Your own count may differ, so run your numbers through the porta potty sizing calculator before you call.
| Event | Typical guests and hours | What we usually send |
|---|---|---|
| Backyard birthday or cookout | 40 guests, 4 hours | 1 standard unit |
| Graduation party with a keg | 80 guests, 5 hours | 4 standard units, 1 two-station hand wash |
| Church homecoming or picnic | 150 guests, 3 hours | 3 standard units plus 1 wheelchair-accessible unit |
| Family reunion at a shelter | 100 guests, 6 hours | 3 units, one of them wheelchair-accessible |
| Block party, street closed | 200 guests, 4 hours | 4 units in one bank, 1 hand wash |
| Graveside or home funeral gathering | 60 guests, 2 hours | 1 to 2 units, set back and out of view |
Church groups often ask for one unit with more room for older guests. The Satellite Freedom wheelchair-accessible unit has a ground-level floor and grab bars, and it helps anyone who uses a cane or walker.
How does Friday drop-off and Monday pickup work?
Weekend events get a Friday drop-off and a Monday pickup at no extra charge. The Friday delivery window runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. On delivery day, the driver calls about 30 minutes before reaching your event. Saturday delivery is possible by request, and we never deliver on Sunday.
The early drop-off protects your event. A Friday delivery means the units are standing, stocked and checked before your first guest pulls in. You are not waiting on a truck while the food is on the grill.
- Book the order and give us the event date, address and guest count.
- Mark the event spot with cones, stakes or ribbon, or text us a photo.
- The driver calls about 30 minutes out on Friday and sets the units.
- Host your event on Saturday or Sunday.
- We pick up on Monday. You do not need to be home for pickup.

(864) 209-8789Free quoteWhere should the units go so guests can find them?
Place event units on level, firm ground at least 10 feet from tents, grills and food tables. Guests should see the units from the main gathering area without walking through the party. A standard unit is 44 inches wide, so a 36-inch garden gate will not let the unit through.

Think about the path a guest walks. The best spot is near the party but downwind of the food, with a clear line of sight. A short walk keeps kids from wandering into the house.
- Light: If the party runs past dark, put the units near a porch light or string lights.
- Ground: Upstate red clay turns slick after rain. A driveway edge, gravel pad or sheet of plywood keeps the floor level.
- Truck access: We roll units in on a hand truck, so we need a 10-foot clear path. Tell us about gates, slopes and steps.
- Doors: Turn doors away from the tables so the view stays nice.
Our post on placing units on red clay covers wet-weather setups in more detail.
Can a porta potty stay overnight at a city park?
Many city parks do not allow a porta potty to stay overnight. Confirm the overnight rule with the park office or venue before you book. When a park needs same-day service, we drop the unit in the morning and pick the unit up later that day, Monday through Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Can a portable toilet be delivered the day before?
- Where can a truck park, and is there a gravel lane near the shelter?
- Does the park need a contract or certificate from the rental company?
Once you have the answers, tell us the shelter number or a landmark. If the park has no street address, a pin dropped on a map works fine. Sadlers Creek State Park, for example, has reservable shelters and a primitive group area, and the park staff can tell you where a truck may stop.
What should I plan for a funeral or graveside service?
A funeral restroom should be quiet, set back and easy to reach for older guests. For a graveside service of 60 people lasting 2 hours, 1 or 2 units usually covers the need. Same-day delivery works when you call by noon and the site is inside our Upstate route area.
Funerals come with short notice. We keep that in mind when we schedule. Tell us the cemetery or church name and the service time, and we will set the unit early.
- Ask the cemetery office where a truck may drive. Many have narrow lanes between plots.
- Set the unit behind a tree line or near the parking area, not near the tent.
- Choose a wheelchair-accessible unit when older relatives are coming. The wide door and ground-level floor make a real difference.
- For a home gathering after the service, place the unit near the driveway so guests stay out of the house.
Do I need a hand wash station or an accessible unit?
Every standard unit has hand sanitizer, but food events work better with soap and water. For food events, we suggest 1 two-station hand wash for every 4 toilets. Public events should include at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit, and at least 5% of the units in each cluster.

The accessibility guideline comes from the 2010 ADA Standards, section 213.2, which covers clustered portable units. Your venue or permit office has the final word, so ask them what they require. Read the standards at the ADA.gov design standards page.
What should I tell you when I ask for a quote?
A full event quote needs 6 details: the address or ZIP code, the event date, the guest count, the hours, whether alcohol is served, and the ground surface. We return quotes within 30 minutes during business hours. A ZIP code alone is enough for a starting price.
We ask these questions to get the count and the route right the first time. Nothing on the list is a sales trick.
- Address, or the nearest crossroads for farmland and parks.
- Event date and start time.
- Number of guests and how long they stay.
- Whether beer, wine or a bar will be served.
- Where the units go: grass, gravel, driveway or backyard.
- Gates, steps, slopes, low wires or soft ground on the path.
Send it all through the quote request form, or call (864) 209-8789 Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Questions renters ask before booking

We have a bathroom inside but don't want guests in the house. What's the cheapest option?
If you drop it Friday for a Saturday reunion, am I responsible for it all weekend?
Can you set up a unit for a funeral this Thursday?
Thursday delivery is fine when you book ahead. Same-day delivery is also possible Monday through Saturday when you call by noon and the site is inside our Upstate route area. Tell us the cemetery or church name and the service time.
