Who rents industrial portable restrooms?
Industrial customers fall into 4 groups: plants running shutdowns or turnarounds, utility and road crews, warehouses with plumbing failures, and companies with several sites on one account. The units are the same PJN3 standard and accessible units, with service schedules built around shifts instead of weekends.
| Customer | Typical setup |
|---|---|
| Plant shutdown or turnaround | Rows of units for contractor surge, 1 to 4 weeks |
| Utility and road crews | Towable units that move with the work |
| Warehouse plumbing failure | Toilets plus hand wash at a dock door, days to weeks |
| Multi-site operators | Units at several yards on one route and one invoice |

Plant shutdowns and turnarounds
A plant shutdown can double or triple headcount for 1 to 4 weeks as contractors arrive. Plan units for the peak contractor count, not the normal staff. We set units near gates and staging areas, service them on shift change, and pull them the week the turnaround ends.
- Send us the peak headcount and the number of shifts.
- Mark staging areas and gates on a site map.
- We place units where the pump truck can reach without entering process areas.
- Service runs on a set day and time, timed around shift change.
- When the turnaround ends, call and we pull units the same week.
A shutdown that runs 10 days still bills as one 28-day cycle, with no removal fee.

Size by the largest shift on site, then set service frequency by total shifts. OSHA's general industry rule, 1910.141 Table J-1, calls for 1 toilet for 1 to 15 employees and 3 for 36 to 55. Two or three shifts on the same units means 2 or 3 services a week.
Step 1: count the largest shift. Step 2: read the unit count. Step 3: set service by how many shifts share the units.
| Employees on largest shift | Table J-1 minimum toilets |
|---|---|
| 1 to 15 | 1 |
| 16 to 35 | 2 |
| 36 to 55 | 3 |
| 56 to 80 | 4 |
| 81 to 110 | 5 |
| 111 to 150 | 6 |
| Shifts sharing the units | Our service plan |
|---|---|
| 1 shift, 5 days | Weekly |
| 2 shifts | 2 times a week |
| 3 shifts or 24-hour work | 3 times a week |
Example: a turnaround with 45 people on day shift and 30 on nights needs at least 3 units, serviced 2 times a week.
Table J-1 is in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.141; over 150 employees it adds 1 fixture per 40 more. The rule is written for permanent facilities, so your safety manager decides how it applies to temporary units. The service plan column is our recommendation, not a rule.
Warehouses and buildings with plumbing failures
When a building's water or sewer fails, staff still need restrooms the same day. Call by 12 noon and we can usually deliver standard units and a hand wash station that afternoon inside our Upstate route. Units can sit at a dock door or in a covered bay the pump truck can reach.
- Place units outside a dock door so staff stay under cover.
- Pair every 4 toilets with 1 two-station hand wash station, or use deluxe units with sinks.
- Indoor placement in a bay works only if the service truck can drive or hose in.
- Repairs often run longer than planned; the 28-day cycle covers that.
Utility and road crews
Utility and road crews use towable units that move with the work, often every 1 to 3 days. Place units on private property or get approval before setting them in a state road right-of-way. SCDOT requires an encroachment permit for work inside SCDOT-maintained right-of-way.

SCDOT's permit rules are on the SCDOT business permits page. Text us the new location each time the unit moves so the service driver finds the unit. For crews on fixed sites, see construction site toilets.
Multiple sites on one route
Companies with 2 or more sites can put every unit on one account, one invoice and one weekly route. Each site keeps its own 28-day cycle and service day. Approved business accounts can pay by check or ACH instead of card, and each site's quote shows its own mileage.
| Item | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Invoice | One account, lines per site |
| Billing cycle | 28 days per site, from its own start date |
| Service day | Set per site on our weekly route |
| Adding or removing a site | Call or text; quotes back within 30 minutes during business hours |

Do portable hand wash stations meet lavatory rules?
OSHA 1910.141(d)(2) calls for lavatories with hot and cold or tepid running water, soap and towels at general industry workplaces. A foot-pump hand wash station gives unheated water with soap and towels. Ask your safety manager whether portable stations meet your site's rule during a temporary outage.
Portable stations are a common stopgap during a plumbing failure or a shutdown, but the call belongs to your safety team. Mobile crews with transport to nearby washing facilities are treated differently under the rule.
We supply the PolyJohn Bravo two-station sink with about 350 washes per fill and refill the station on every service visit.
Questions renters ask before booking
Do you have 'industrial' portable restrooms?
Industrial restrooms are our standard, accessible and towable units set up with shift-based service and business billing. The units are the same; the service plan and invoicing change.
Our building plumbing is out. Can you bring toilet and sink units today?
Call by noon Monday through Saturday and we can usually deliver toilets and a hand wash station the same day inside our Upstate route. A rush charge starting at $65 shows on the quote first.
Can you service units inside our warehouse bay?
Units inside a bay or garage can be serviced when the pump truck can reach them with its hose. Tell us the bay door height and distance before delivery.
Can we get service twice a week during the shutdown and weekly after?
Service frequency can change mid-rental. Extra visits are added to the cycle, and the quote shows each visit before you approve.
How is a 10-day turnaround billed?
A 10-day turnaround bills as one 28-day cycle. A standard unit starts at $155 per cycle with a $45 starting delivery fee on the first cycle, and there is no removal fee.
Can our company pay by check or ACH?
Once approved, an industrial business account can pay by check or ACH. Card accounts auto-bill each 28-day cycle with no card surcharge.
Do you serve plants outside the Upstate?
Columbia, Rock Hill, Aiken and coastal sites are scheduled runs, so book at least 3 business days ahead. Same-day delivery is only offered inside our Upstate route.
